Coinbase Wallet was rebranded as **Base App**, a strategic move to establish "Base" as an independent ecosystem identity separate from the Coinbase exchange brand. A June 2026 report described the Base App's expansion to include a browser extension and web access, multi-chain trading across Ethereum, Solana, and BNB Chain, and USDC rewards of up to 3.35% APY in selected regions.

This creates a naming inconsistency: the Chrome Web Store listing still says "Coinbase Wallet extension," while Coinbase's own developer documentation now recommends **Base Account SDK (**`@base-org/account`**)** for new integrations, describing the legacy `@coinbase/wallet-sdk` as awaiting a "next-generation" replacement. For existing extension users, this does not change functionality today—the extension still works—but it signals that the product's long-term identity is shifting toward the Base brand. Users should expect future updates and documentation to increasingly reference "Base App" or "Base Account" rather than "Coinbase Wallet."
